In February 2009 Communities Minister and MP for Tooting, Sadiq Khan officially opened the Library in the London Muslim Centre (LMC). Further information about the opening ceremony can be found here.
The LMC library has a wide array of books available to service users. New books in Arabic and English have been bought to expand the library's collection to over 6,500 books, which includes over 600 books in Bangla and over 500 for children. The library is staffed by two part-time librarians and a number of support volunteers.
The library has a total of 16 computers, which are used by service users to browse the internet, aid job searches and CV preparations. The number of users is steadily increasing, and currently stands at about 1,500 visits per month.
The library is used by the London East Academy based at the LMC, especially its Sixth Form which has access outside normal opening hours to help students.
