Rainbow House

Children's Centre

What we offer

The past year for Rainbow House has been challenging yet successful. Since our successful OFSTED registration in August Rainbow House is now able to provide playgroup, seminars, and training. There has always been a huge demand for our service; expansion has resulted in us being able to take more children into our care, as well as provide much needed crèche facilities to events such as seminars, conferences and courses held in LMC by other organisations

Sure Start has given Rainbow House much needed financial support without which Rainbow House faced closure. Especially, with the construction of our new setting, furnishings and staff costs. As Surestart develop themselves into children centers financial support may stop. Therefore Rainbow House needs to plan ahead by holding regular fundraising events and look into other sources to maintain the outgoing costs of the new setting.

This year Rainbow House playgroup has seen the children progress well following the Early Learning Goals as its guide. Namely Personal, Social and Emotional development, Communication, Language and Literacy, Mathematical Development, Knowledge and understanding of the world, Mathematical Development, Physical Development and Creative Development.

The children have been given an adequate environment to develop their Personal and Social skills. Children have been encouraged to develop their self esteem, self care and self control through making relationships. Children’s attitudes and dispositions have been developed through story telling and circle time as well as through free play.

Children have been encouraged to develop their Communication, Language and Literacy. This has been through linking sounds to letters, through reading books in small groups. Children have been encouraged to develop their written skills though handwriting activities.

As for Physical development children have been engaged in various team games to enable them to develop their gross motor skills, their movement and their sense of space. To develop children’s fine motor skills thy have been given various tools and equipment such as threading, scissors.

Children have been engaged in various activities to enhance their Creative development. This has been through exploring media and materials, through imagination and responding to experiences, expressing and communicating ideas.
