This beautiful Islamic duty is not only so the poor have food for the day of Eid, but also to purify us from the sins we committed in Ramadan. Don’t delay – give your Zakat al-Fitr now online, to ensure it reaches the needy in time for Eid. Ibn Abbas reported: The Prophet ﷺ made Zakat al-Fitr compulsory so that those who fasted may be purified of their idle deeds and shameful talk (committed during Ramadan), and so that the poor may be fed. Whoever gives it before (Eid) Salah will have it accepted as Zakat, while he who gives it after the Salah has given Sadaqah. We recommend at least £6 per person, which can then be used to provide food for the poor and needy in time for Eid – for this to work, please pay well before the end of Ramadan! It needs to be given on behalf of every member of a family, young and old. So, a family with two parents and two children would give 4 x £6, i.e. £24. If you can be more generous, then even better! We can collect your Zakat al-Fitr, and ensure it goes to the poor and needy in time for Eid by partnering with UK Muslim charities. Don’t delay in paying your Zakat al-Fitr! And after fulfilling this, don’t forget your Zakah and Sadaqah for Ramadan. We have been advised that Gift Aid is not considered part of Zakat al-Fitr, so Gift Aid from Zakat al-Fitr will be used as general sadaqah (charity).
