Alhamdulillah, we have safe and effective vaccines that protect us against COVID-19. Vaccination is consistent with the Shari‘ah; the permissibility of taking vaccines and medicine, to repel disease or prevent an expected one, is a matter of consensus amongst the people of knowledge.

Those who will observe the fast this Ramadan, rest assured the vast majority of scholars say it is permissible to take the vaccine whilst fasting.

There may be mild side effects, such as a sore arm or headache, but these should only last a couple of days at most, insha’Allah.

It is also permissible to be tested for COVID-19 when fasting.


Get vaccinated at the London Muslim Centre

On Wednesday 14 April 2021 our local GPs will be offering Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccinations at the London Muslim Centre, from 11am to 5pm.

If you’re 50 or over or in an at-risk group and have not had a COVID-19 vaccination already, please call 020 7364 3030 to book an appointment. This service is available for both men and women of all faiths and none. Entry on the day will be via Entrance 2 on Fieldgate Street.
