1 Apr 2020 – As we adjust to life in lockdown, many vulnerable in our community need help to get essential supplies. Our staff and volunteers are delivering every day, may Allah reward them and keep them safe.

Please help us to buy the food needed, we’ll do our very best to reach as many people as possible, insha’Allah.

Let us try to emulate the great companion of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him):

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, “Who among you is fasting today?” Abu Bakr said, “I am.” He ﷺ asked, “Who among you has attended a funeral today?” Abu Bakr said, “I have.” He ﷺ asked, “Who among you has fed a poor person today?’ Abu Bakr said, “I have.” He ﷺ asked, “Who among you has visited a sick person today?” Abu Bakr said, “I have.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “These (traits) are not combined in a person but he will enter Paradise.”

{Muslim}

We can fast if we are well enough. If we cannot now attend a funeral, we can pray for the deceased. We can feed the poor each day with a small amount of giving in charity. And we can even safely ‘visit’ the sick by calling them, making sure they’re okay.

That daily act of charity, for those who can afford even a little, brings with it the pleasure of Allah and His great reward:

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “O people, you should do whatever good deeds you can, for Allah does not get tired (of giving reward) until you get tired. And the most beloved of good deeds to Allah is that in which a person persists, even if it is little. If the family of Muhammad started to do something, they would persist in it.”

{Bukhari, Muslim}
