Shaykh Abdul Qayum has been the Chief Imam and Khateeb of the East London Mosque since 1993. He studied Islamic Sciences and Uloomul Hadith at the Madrasah Aliah, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Then in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, he continued his study of Islamic Sciences under several scholars. At the Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University he completed a B.A. in Arabic Language & Literature and an M.A. in Applied Linguistics. He went on to lecture in Qur’anic Arabic at the International Islamic University of Malaysia. He is a patron of Richard House Children’s Hospice.
