18 March 2025 Update – The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached unprecedented levels following Israel’s resumption of intense hostilities. Early this morning, Israeli airstrikes resulted in over 400 fatalities, including many women and children, marking it one of the deadliest days in the ongoing conflict. The United Nations’ emergency relief coordinator, Tom Fletcher, has urgently called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the unimpeded entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, emphasising that 2.1 million people have been cut off from essential supplies such as food, medicine, and fuel since 2 March.

The collapse of a nearly two-month ceasefire has led to mass displacement, with thousands of Palestinians forced to flee their homes amidst the renewed violence. Hospitals are overwhelmed, operating without sufficient supplies and amid power outages, struggling to cope with the influx of wounded. The international community, including the United Nations and various countries, has condemned the escalation and is calling for an immediate ceasefire and the resumption of humanitarian aid.
