The community has supported victims of the Grenfell Tower fire from the day it happened. Our congregation raised over £2,500 in its first collection, which was distributed on our behalf by the National Zakat Foundation. Mosque staff and volunteers were amongst the first to deliver water to displaced families on the day of the tragedy. Today’s funeral arrangements were made by Eden Care, Haji Taslim Funeral Service and Gardens of Peace Cemetery at no cost to Mohammed’s family. Mosque Chairman, Muhammad Habibur Rahman, said: “May Allah grant our brother Mohammed Alhajali Jannah (Heaven). May Allah give his family and friends patience at this difficult time. We pray for everybody who tragically lost their lives in the fire.” Mayor Sadiq Khan called for an amnesty for all Grenfell Tower residents with irregular immigration status to be given the right to remain in the UK.
