18 Apr 2023 – East London Mosque’s 27th Night Ramadan Appeal Raises Over £320,000 for Expansion Project

The community has come together in an extraordinary display of generosity, raising a remarkable £323,573 during the 27th Night Ramadan Appeal at the East London Mosque.

The funds raised will contribute significantly to the Mosque’s Phase 3 prayer hall extension project, which aims to create additional space for the growing congregation.

As the number of worshippers attending the mosque continues to grow, the need for larger prayer halls has become increasingly evident. The extension project will provide much-needed space for both men and women, ensuring that the Mosque can continue accommodating the community's spiritual needs.

The appeal, which took place during the 27th night of Ramadan, saw an outpouring of support from the community and worshippers. Participants contributed £264,573 in donations and pledges, while another £59,000 was raised in Qard Hasanah (interest free loan)

“We are truly overwhelmed by the generosity and trust of our community,” said Ayub Khan, Chairman of the East London Mosque. “This level of support not only helps us to fund the extension project but also demonstrates the strong sense of unity and commitment to preserving and enhancing the East London Mosque for generations to come.”

While the mosque has made significant progress towards its fundraising goal, it continues to seek support to reach the target of £2.2 million for the Phase 3 prayer hall extension project as well for the Dome and Minaret replacement. Donations are still being accepted, and community members are encouraged to contribute.
