Press were invited to a briefing on Tuesday 8 May for the Run 4 Your Mosque fundraising campaign.

This exciting initiative will see hundreds of people from the local community taking part in a 5km run on the 27th May 2012. Shaynul Khan, Assistant Director of the Mosque and Centre, explained what Run 4 Your Mosque hopes to achieve and the route in Tower Hamlets from the East London Mosque to Mile End park.

In addition to raising funds for the new expansion of the Mosque, the Maryam Centre, this event will be used to promote healthy living and the benefits of exercise.

Run 4 Your Mosque runners attended and were briefed on activities that will take place on the day. Many participants explained how their fundraising efforts have been going and gave tips to others on how to find better sponsorship. The Mosque management encouraged runners to seek sponsorship from friends, family and even local businesses.

The Mosque Management and senior staff members who were present at the meeting included Dr Muhammad Abdul Bari (Chairman), Muhammad Habibur Rahman (Secretary), Ayub Khan (Vice-Chairman) and Muhammed Siddique (Vice-Chairman), Shaykh Abdul Qayum (Imam of the Mosque) and Dilowar Khan (Executive Director).

There is still time to sign up to take part in the event – the registration deadline has been extended to 21 May 2012.
