21st August 2020 – We at the East London Mosque would like to congratulate the students of our secondary school, the London East Academy, on their excellent GCSE grades this year.

  • 96% of students achieved grades 5-9 including English and Maths
  • 95% of students achieved 5-9 English Baccalaureate (EBacc)*
  • 100% of students achieved 5-9 in Maths
  • 100% of students achieved 5-9 in Science
  • 100% of students achieved A/A* in the Islamic subject disciplines

In particular we would like to congratulate Muad Tanveer who achieved grade 9s in all 10 of his exams, and Wasit Abdullah who achieved nine grade 9s and 1 grade 8.

Head teacher of London East Academy, Askor Ali, praised their achievements:

Once again our students have achieved amazing results demonstrating the exception value of our combination of the National Curriculum and Islamic subjects. I wish them the best for their bright futures and look proudly with high hopes of them as the model British Muslims of tomorrow. *The English Baccalaureate is a school performance indicator that measures the percentage of students who achieve five or more 5–9 grades in traditional academic GCSE subjects, i.e. English language and literature, maths, the sciences, geography, history, and languages.
