Showcasing impressive community spirit, the Sisters-Only Tea Party organised by the East London Mosques on 3rd June 2023 sold out within 48 hours of announcement, reflecting the community's enthusiasm.

Kicking off with an inspirational speech by Ruhana Ali, Mosque Trustee, the event emphasised resilience, self-belief, and leadership. The attendees left with renewed ambition to pursue their dreams.

The event offered an array of engaging activities ranging from interactive games, networking opportunities, stalls, henna painting, a private massage room, to a banquet of food. A highlight was an auction of unique items, generously donated by local businesses and community members, raising substantial funds for the East London Mosque and reinforcing community spirit.

Additional fundraising initiatives supported the Mosque’s Women’s Counselling Service and the expansion of prayer halls, validating the event's success. This raised over £9,000 in donation and pledges.

The Mosques staff ensured a welcoming atmosphere, blending traditional and contemporary designs in decoration. The ambiance fostered unity and sisterhood, urging attendees to forge stronger bonds with each other and the Mosque.

Ruhana Ali, reflecting on the event’s success, commented:

The event was such a beautiful and elegant display of sisterhood, empowerment and community spirit. It was such a pleasure to meet diverse sisters and spend the afternoon networking, listening to uplifting reminders, playing games and sampling delicious food and drink in a stunning setting. Our vision is for the Maryam Centre to be a centre of excellence for women in the community and it’s through events like these you leave feeling really empowered by the strength of sisterhood and the wonderful spirit of our community.

Tozommul Ali, Fundraising Manager for the Mosque, added:

We were overwhelmed by the incredible support received for the Sisters Only Tea Party. Tickets were sold out within 48 hours of its publicity. The event was not only a great opportunity for sisters to come together, but it also served as a platform to keep heart attached to the Mosque. We are grateful for the community's generosity and commitment to our Mosque. Of course, this would never have been possible without our sponsors, volunteers and staff, so I thank them all who worked tireless in making this event a success.

The Sisters-Only Tea Party epitomises the power of community engagement and empowerment, leaving attendees inspired and proud of their community and Mosque, emphasising the strength possible when individuals unite for a common cause.
