The East London Mosque & London Muslim Centre is pleased to announce that 1 Ramadan 1441 will be on Friday 24 April 2020. May Allah make this a blessed month for all of us, especially as we face the unprecedented restrictions of the coronavirus pandemic lockdown.

Iftar

We normally offer Iftar (breaking of the fast) every evening in the LMC; but this year, as our Mosque & Centre are closed, we’re providing Iftar for those in need in our community and overseas. You too can provide Iftar, knowing that Allah grants the reward of those whom we feed for His sake – simply visit this page and decide how many people you want to feed.

Zakat al Fitr

Originally this was the giving of a certain amount of food to the needy, but nowadays most people give money to pay for the food. This has been set at £6, and should be paid for each and every member of the family, including children.

Zakat al Fitr can be paid from the beginning of Ramadan; we advise people to do so as early as possible, ideally before the 20th of Ramadan (13 May) to make it easier to reach the needy recipients in time.

You won’t be able to pay at the Mosque because of the closure, so make sure you fulfil your obligation for Zakat al Fitr before the end of Ramadan. The East London Mosque can collect your Zakat al Fitr; you can pay online here from the beginning of Ramadan.

Give your first Sadaqah of Ramadan now!

The closure of the Mosque has badly affected the Mosque’s income, so we need your generous donations more than ever. May Allah reward you many times over for all that you give for His sake.
