The East London Mosque & London Muslim Centre is pleased to announce that 1 Ramadan 1442 will be on Tuesday 13 April 2021.

The first Tarawih prayers will be in the evening of Monday 12 April. Our Ramadan Timetable is available here.

Iftar

Due to ongoing restrictions for COVID-19 pandemic, our mosque will not be open for Iftar. Please have your Iftar at home.

We will open for the Maghrib jamā’ah 10 minutes after Iftar, i.e. 5 minutes before the prayer. The mosque will close after the Maghrib jama’ah, and re-open 20 minutes before the ‘Ishā jamā’ah.

Instead, like last year, we’re aiming to provide Iftar for thousands of those in need in our community and overseas. You too can share in the great reward for feeding those who have been fasting, simply click the link below:

Tarawih

This year, insha’Allah, we are able to prayer ‘Ishā, Tarāwīh and Witr prayers at the East London Mosque. We will open the doors 20 minutes before ‘Ishā jama’ah. However due to COVID-19 precautions, each night this will be kept to one hour altogether, by praying 8 rak‘ahs of Tarāwīh and not reciting the whole of the Qur’an. The Mosque will close 10 minutes after prayers finish.

You can listen live here.

Itikaf

Due to COVID-19 precautions, there will be no Itikaf in the East London Mosque this year.

Zakat al Fitr

Originally this was the giving of a certain amount of food to the needy, but nowadays most people give money to pay for the food. This has been set at £6, and should be paid for each and every member of the family, including children.

Zakat al Fitr can be paid from the beginning of Ramadan; we advise people to do so as early as possible, ideally before the 20th of Ramadan (2 May) to make it easier to reach the needy recipients in time.

Make sure you fulfil your obligation for Zakat al Fitr before the end of Ramadan. The East London Mosque can collect your Zakat al Fitr; you can pay online here from the beginning of Ramadan:
