Throughout the blessed month of Ramadan 1447H, the East London Mosque and London Muslim Centre once again became a focal point for prayer, community and charity.

This year’s theme, ‘Closer to Allah’, was not simply a message, but a lived reality. It reflected the essence of Ramadan: increasing in salah, deepening our relationship with the Qur’an, giving in charity, and striving to strengthen our connection with Allah in every aspect of our lives.

Night after night, the Mosque was filled with thousands of worshippers standing in prayer. We witnessed a beautiful increase in young people attending. Over 1,000 iftars were served daily, bringing together brothers and sisters from all backgrounds to break their fast in unity and gratitude, and hosted a wide range of religious and community activities. The atmosphere at the Mosque was vibrant, filled with a strong sense of spirituality and community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Tarawih Imams for their moving and beautiful recitations of the Qur’an, which softened hearts and brought many to tears. We also thank our dedicated staff and volunteers, whose tireless efforts throughout this blessed month ensured that the Mosque remained a welcoming and organised space for all.

May Allah accept from them, elevate their ranks, and grant them immense reward, Ameen.

A Shared Amanah: Supporting the House of Allah

Ramadan is a time when hearts are softened and goodness is multiplied. Our appeal this year invited the community to take part in supporting the Mosque as a continuous charity:

  • £500  or £42 p/m to become a Khadim (guardian) of the House of Allah from Ramadan to Ramadan
  • £1,000 or £84 p/m to be part of the Donor Wall, in your name or in memory of a loved one
  • £30 or £1 a day in regular giving, a monthly sadaqah bringing ongoing reward

The Prophet ﷺ taught us that the most beloved deeds to Allah are those that are consistent, even if small. These contributions are an investment for the Akhirah.

With Gratitude and Du’a

The continuation of good deeds after Ramadan is from the signs that Allah has accepted from us. We ask Allah to make us among those whose Ibadah are accepted and whose hearts remain steadfast beyond Ramadan.

May Allah accept our fasting, our prayers, our recitation, and our charity. May He forgive our shortcomings, purify our intentions, and answer our du’as. May He allow us to witness many more Ramadans together. May He continue to bless our community and keep us united in faith, service and sincerity for the benefit of the wider Ummah.

With sincere thanks, du’as, and warm wishes,

From all of us at the East London Mosque

JazakumAllahu Khayran
