This year’s Ramadan campaign at the East London Mosque and London Muslim Centre, ‘Count Our Blessings’, focuses on gratitude and thankfulness, especially after the difficulties faced during two years of the global pandemic.

We are all so blessed to be alive. To be given the chance to live this life, and to worship Allah (SWT) so that we can earn our share of the rewards in the Hereafter. Yet, in our busy day-to-day lives, we rarely get a chance to stop and ‘Count Our Blessings’ bestowed upon us by Allah (SWT). Our campaign serves as a reminder that we have so much to be grateful for.

In surah Saba’, Allah (SWT) recounts some of the great blessings and favours which He conferred upon prophet Dawood (AS) and his family. After describing the amazing blessings upon the family of Dawood, Allah then commands:

“Work, O family of Dawood, in gratitude. Only a few of My servants are truly grateful.” [Qur’an 34:13]

Indeed, giving thanks to Allah (SWT) during the blessed month of Ramadan for everything that we have is pivotal to our collective success as a family, as a community and as an Ummah. Allah (SWT) has blessed us in many different ways, as He says in the Qur’an:

“If you were to count the blessings of Allah, you would never be able to do so…” [Qur’an 14:34]

Giving back to the community

The East London Mosque was built by the community, for the community. Today it is a large complex that offers many services and projects for the benefit of everyone.

Nearly 1500 new Muslims have taken their Shahadah at the East London Mosque and to date over 100 Huffaz have graduated from our schools.

We have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic period, to support our community. The Mosque set up a food bank to help the most vulnerable families and has also distributed emergency financial relief from welfare fund to those that have fallen on hard times.

Our collective success as a family, as a community, and as an Ummah is all from Allah.

Every single penny donated to the East London Mosque is used to further our organisational mission, to Serve, Educate and Inspire.
