The East London Mosque held its annual Huffaz Graduation ceremony yesterday evening, where eight students from London East Academy and Al Mizan School were recognised for memorising the entire Quran. Four of these students achieved additional distinction by completing rigorous revision cycle.

Speaking at the ceremony, East London Mosque CEO Junaid Ahmed highlighted the importance of the achievement: “This event is one we look forward to every year – one of the most important in the East London Mosque calendar. You have achieved something amazing, something that is not achievable by everyone.”

He reminded the graduates that this milestone marks the beginning of their journey: “This is the first step to this amazing journey with the Qur’an,” he told them, emphasising the need to transform their memorisation into good character and action.

The graduates, from Years 8 to 12, demonstrated their achievement through recitations from different parts of the Qur’an. Each student shared their personal story of the challenges and triumphs in their journey of memorising the Qur’an.

Deputy Head Teacher Ustadh Anamul Khan paid tribute to the collective effort behind each student’s success: “The journey would not have been possible without the dedication of our staff. From the first lesson the students took to the countless hours spent reviewing, revising and receiving guidance, our teachers have been a constant source of support. To our parents, your role has been invaluable – the early mornings, the late nights, and the unwavering support you showed your children has made all the difference.”

The event ended with a reminder that these young Huffaz are continuing the tradition of preserving the Qur’an through memorisation, ensuring its transmission to future generations.
