The East London Mosque welcomed 132 students for its annual Qur’an Revision Day, marking another successful gathering of Huffaz from across the United Kingdom. The event, held just weeks before Ramadan, saw participants arriving for Fajr prayer and continuing their recitations until Isha.

Among the remarkable achievements of the day, 20 students completed full khatams (cover-to-cover recitations of the Qur’an). The fastest completion was recorded by a 15-year-old Hafiz, who finished in just five hours and 32 minutes. Another notable achievement came from Ahmad Mumin from Southall, who completed the entire Qur’an while fasting, demonstrating extraordinary dedication. Other participants completed various portions, ranging from 5 to 15 juz, supported by 80 dedicated teachers.

The event drew students from over 20 cities across the UK, including Blackburn, Bradford, Halifax, Leicester, Manchester, Nottingham, and Brighton, highlighting its growing national significance.

Junaid Ahmed, CEO of the East London Mosque, praised the remarkable gathering: “It’s an event that inspires connections with the Qur’an, and the timing just before Ramadan makes it particularly meaningful. It was a truly blessed initiative and gathering. Imam Anisul and everyone else, including the volunteers from the Qur’an Revision Project, put in huge effort behind the scenes. Next year, we're looking forward to hosting an even bigger event in the grand hall as the East London Mosque expansion will be fully open, Insha’Allah.”

The mosque’s Phase 3 extension, set to be completed in time for Ramadan, promises to provide even greater capacity for this popular event.

Imam Anisul Haque expressed his joy at the day’s success: “This annual event has become a key fixture in our calendar. It’s an honour and privilege to host an event that brings together cities from across the UK. The students display such love, passion, and determination to commit the entire Qur’an to memory. Their dedication is truly inspiring.”

Thanks to the hard work of volunteers and organisers, including the Qur’an Revision Project team, the day ran smoothly from start to finish. As more people take part each year, it shows just how many young Muslims are keen to learn and memorise the Qur’an by heart.
