News & Islam News ELM Trust 65th Annual General Meeting 12 October 2024 The East London Mosque Trust (ELMT) successfully held its 65th Annual General Meeting, marking a significant milestone in the continued growth and service of the Mosque and its associated projects. The meeting was attended by ELMT members who gathered to reflect on the achievements of the past year and discuss the organisation’s strategic priorities for 2024–25. Chairman’s RemarksDr Abdul-Hayee Murshad, Chairman of the East London Mosque Trust, opened the meeting with a speech reflecting on the organisation’s journey over the past year and thanked the members for all their support. He highlighted the community's resilience and dedication in supporting the Mosque, even in the face of economic challenges. “By the grace of Allah and the unwavering support of our community, staff and volunteers, the East London Mosque has continued to thrive. Our services have reached more people than ever before, and our commitment to serve, educate, and inspire remains at the forefront of our efforts. Together, we look forward to continuing our mission to enhance the lives of our community, insha’Allah,” Dr Murshad said. CEO’s Presentation on Strategic PrioritiesJunaid Ahmed, the newly appointed CEO of ELMT, gave a comprehensive presentation, outlining the Trust’s strategic priorities for 2024–25. He emphasised the importance of stabilising and consolidating the Mosque’s operations to ensure long-term sustainability. “Our strategy is focused on stabilisation and consolidation to secure our foundations for future growth. We are committed to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation that will allow us to serve our community with excellence,” Mr Ahmed stated. He also took the opportunity to share the highlights of the past year, including the expansion of projects and services, improvements in systems and processes, and the successful fundraising campaigns during Ramadan. Looking AheadThe Trust members engaged in constructive discussions about the future direction of the Mosque, with a focus on strengthening financial stability, improving service delivery, and advancing key projects such as the completion of the Phase 3 prayer hall expansion. As the AGM concluded, both the Chairman, Trustees and CEO expressed their gratitude to the community, volunteers, and staff for their dedication and contributions to the Mosque's success.
