News & Islam News Ramadan 2025: A Month of Service, Sacrifice, and Generosity – Thank You! 11 April 2025 – With Allah's blessings and our community's extraordinary efforts, this Ramadan was a shining example of unity, devotion, and generosity in action. From the peaceful nights of worship to the buzzing halls filled with volunteers and worshippers, the East London Mosque was once again a centre of spiritual life and service. Throughout the blessed month, your commitment and compassion were evident in every corner of the Mosque. Whether serving iftar, supporting our appeals, or simply showing up in your hundreds and thousands each night for Ibadah, your presence and spirit made this Ramadan special. None of this would have been possible without the tireless contributions of our Tarawih Imams, staff, and volunteers, who served with dedication. We offer our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to them. They worked around the clock to ensure that thousands who passed through our doors experienced a smooth and spiritually uplifting Ramadan. May Allah reward them all, Ameen. To our partners and supporting charities, we are profoundly grateful for your ongoing partnership. Your commitment to assisting those in need during this sacred month beautifully reflects the values of Ramadan. May Allah reward and uplift your efforts. Prayer Halls Expansion for Men and Women – A Milestone Reached This Ramadan, worshippers could finally make full use of the newly completed Prayer Hall Expansion for men and women, part of our Phase 3 development. Although the space was temporarily opened last year, it was closed again to allow the final stages of work to be completed. Alhamdulillah, this year the fully opened space brought ease and comfort to thousands, particularly during the busiest nights of the last ten days. The ‘Be A Khadim’ Campaign – A Legacy of Giving This year, we launched a new opportunity for our congregation to play a vital role in safeguarding the house of Allah: the Be A Khadim (Guardian) campaign. Through this initiative, we are inviting 1,000 individuals to pledge and raise £500 over the course of a year, from Ramadan to Ramadan. This is a powerful and personal way to help sustain the work of the East London Mosque. Becoming a Khadim means being a guardian of the Masjid’s future, supporting its essential services in education, welfare, da’wah, and community outreach. Your donation is a long-term commitment to Sadaqah Jariyah. As a token of appreciation, each Khadim will receive a special edition commemorative coin, a lasting symbol of the contribution to this noble cause. Ramadan 2025 Highlights We are delighted to share some of the incredible outcomes from this year’s Ramadan: Over 33,000 worshippers prayed Tahajjud in the last 10 nights Over 30,000 iftar meals were served on-site, welcoming worshippers from all walks of life to break their fast in the spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood. Through our trusted charity partners, over 10,000 meals were also delivered globally to the needy in countries such as Somalia, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Yemen, Gaza and Palestine. During Zuhr and Tarawih prayers, the Mosque hosted 40 external charity collections, raising nearly £400,000 for vital emergency causes in Gaza and Palestine. With your support, over 250 vulnerable local families, including refugees, received food packs and support throughout the month. We collected £132,677 of Zakat al-Fitr and distributed it through our partners to ensure families in need around the world could enjoy the Eid festivities, such as in Gaza, Palestine, Pakistan, Myanmar, Rohingya, Bangladesh, Sudan, Yemen, Kenya and Syria. Over 32,000 people prayed Eid salah at the Mosque We also had 33 Shahadah at the Mosque during Ramadan We raised £632,872 in donations and £351,364 in pledges and Qard Hasanah (interest-free loans) from members of our congregation for the Mosque. A Final Word of Gratitude and Duas None of these achievements would have been possible without you. Your presence, your prayers, and your generosity are the pillars that uphold this institution. May Allah accept your fasting, prayers, and charity. May He forgive our shortcomings, answer our duas, and allow us to witness many more Ramadans together. May He bless our community and keep us united in faith and service so that we may benefit the entire Ummah. With love, gratitude and duas, your brothers and sisters at the East London Mosque & London Muslim Centre. Manage Cookie Preferences
