News & Islam News Sisters Unite in Community and Empowerment at Tea Party The East London Mosque (ELM) hosted its annual Sisters’ Exclusive Tea Party on Saturday 9th November 2024, welcoming 180 attendees for an exciting afternoon of fun, community building, and charitable giving. The ticketed event proved to be a resounding success, raising funds for various women-focused projects, including essential services for new Muslims. The beautifully decorated venue, situated in one of our halls, created an enchanting atmosphere where sisters gathered to enjoy an array of activities, networking opportunities and refreshments. The event featured several highlights, including an uplifting nasihah delivered by guest speaker Ustadha Amira Salama, therapeutic massage services, stalls and an exciting auction of premium items such as perfumes, Arabic calligraphy artwork, exclusive ELM honey, and fine jewellery. Sufia Alam, ELM Head of Programmes, commented: The overwhelming response to this year’s Sisters’ Tea Party demonstrates the vital importance of creating spaces where Muslim women can come together, strengthen bonds, and support crucial community initiatives. Tozommul Ali, Fundraising Manager for the Mosque, added: Tickets were sold out within few days of its publicity. The funds raised will directly benefit our sisters’ programmes, particularly our new Muslim services, which provide essential support to those embarking on their Islamic journey. We are grateful for the community’s generosity and commitment to our Mosque. Of course, this would never have been possible without our sponsors, volunteers and staff, so I thank them all who worked tireless in making this event a success. Young volunteers led entertaining quiz games throughout the afternoon, with winners receiving special prizes. The event also awarded prizes for style and creativity through a best-dressed competition, adding an element of glamour to the party. The Tea Party has become a key event in East London Mosque’s community calendar. This year’s success builds upon previous gatherings, continuing to strengthen the bonds within the Muslim women’s community while supporting vital charitable initiatives.
