News & Islam News Statement from the ELM on the Heaton Park Synagogue attack 2 October 2025 We are deeply shocked and saddened by the reports of today’s violent attack outside a synagogue in Manchester. We unequivocally condemn this senseless act of violence. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the Jewish community during this distressing time. The freedom to worship in peace and safety is a right for people of all faiths, and a fundamental pillar of our country that we all celebrate and seek to uphold. An attack on this freedom is especially painful and wholly unacceptable. As Muslims, we are reminded by our faith of the sanctity of every human life. The East London Mosque stands in solidarity with our Jewish neighbours, affirming our shared commitment to peace, justice, and mutual respect. This attack comes amidst a rise in hate crime across the country, often fuelled by Far-Right rhetoric. While our immediate concern is with the victims and the Jewish community, we are also mindful that such incidents may lead to further hostility against Muslims and other minority groups. We urge calm and unity, and we pray for an end to all forms of hatred and violence. We ask all our communities to remain especially vigilant at this time. Manage Cookie Preferences
