Support us Challenge Activities Trek 4 Your Mosque Event Successfully Raises Funds and Fosters Unity 12 Aug 2024 – The East London Mosque is delighted to announce the successful completion of the ‘Trek 4 Your Mosque’ event, which took place from Saturday 3rd August to Monday 5th August 2024. The event saw 42 enthusiastic participants, both young and old, come together to embark on a memorable journey to the Yorkshire Dales, trekking the iconic Pen-y-Ghent. Participants, all aged 18 and over, committed to raising funds for the Mosque, with a fundraising target set at £300 per person. The collective effort of the trekkers, along with the generous support from their sponsors, has contributed significantly towards the development of the East London Mosque, ensuring it continues to serve as a cornerstone for the community. The trek through the picturesque Yorkshire Dales was blessed with beautiful weather, making the experience both enjoyable and invigorating. Despite the moderate challenge posed by the terrain, every participant successfully completed the trek, though not without some exhaustion, underscoring their determination and commitment. Throughout the three days, the group was guided and spiritually uplifted by our esteemed Imams, Shaykh Syed Anis and Shaykh Abdur Rahman. Their spiritual reminders and reflections provided a deeper sense of purpose and connection, enriching the experience for all involved. Beyond the physical and spiritual achievements, the event also played a crucial role in building strong bonds of brotherhood and fostering new friendships among the participants. The shared experiences and challenges of the trek created lasting memories and strengthened the sense of community. Tozommul Ali, Fundraising Manager of the East London Mosque said: We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took part in the Trek 4 Your Mosque this year. Their dedication and hard work raised vital funds for our Mosque, and also reinforced the spirit of unity and brotherhood that is at the heart of our community. This initiative raised £12,520 for the mosque's prayer hall expansion for men and women, as well as for the running of services and projects. Each participants had a fundraising target of £300, however one individual, Firuz Miah (Shamim) exceeded this by raising over £1,680. Firuz was declared the top fundraiser and gifted with an Apple Airpods for his efforts.
