The Prophet ﷺ said,

He who does not thank the people is not thankful to Allah.

Ramadan has come and gone in a blink of an eye, and only Allah knows if we will see another one. We pray that Allah accepts all our good deeds, Ibadah, Sadaqah and fasting from the month of Ramadan.

The overwhelming support and generosity from our community, from donors such as you, always leaves us truly amazed. So, everyone at the East London Mosque & London Muslim Centre extends our heartfelt thanks to you. We can never thank you enough.

We are also grateful that Allah enabled us to open our doors at full capacity for Ramadan, after two years of restrictions. It brought back the busy and vibrant atmosphere that we all love so much about the Mosque, which had been sorely missed.

We thank everyone for following the instructions of our volunteers and staff to aid the smooth running of the Mosque, especially during Tarawih and Tahajjud. This has helped keep us all safe throughout Ramadan.

This Ramadan, more than ever, has been a time to #CountOurBlessings!

• This year’s Ramadan campaign, Count Our Blessings, focussed on gratitude and thankfulness, especially after the difficulties faced during the global pandemic.
• ‘From The Pulpit – Ramadan Talks’ were delivered by our Imams and guests speakers every day after ‘Asr.
• We all enjoyed beautiful recitation by local and international Huffaz for Tarawih. This year also saw the return of Tahajjud.
• Iftar returned to the London Muslim Centre, as your sadaqah allowed us to provide over 20,000 free Iftar meals.
• We also provided over 9,000 Iftar meals to needy Muslims around the world – including in Gaza, Palestine, Afghanistan, Syria, Bangladesh, Yemen, Lebanon (Syrian refugees), Ethopia, Niger, and to the Uighur and the Rohingya Muslims. We did this through our charity partners: Al-Khair Foundation, Global Relief Trust, Human Appeal, Lonely Orphans, Islamic Relief, Human Relief Foundation, Muslim Aid, Penny Appeal, Muntada Aid, Muslim Hands, 13 Rivers Trust, and Help Yateem,
• Almost £78k of Zakat al-Fitr was collected online and at the Mosque, every penny of which was sent to poor and needy Muslims around the world through UK registered Muslim charities.
  
• We also passed on a further £41k of Zakah through these charities.
• ELM hosted 38 external charity collections at Zuhr and Tarawih for other mosques, humanitarian relief organisations, and charitable causes, raising over a quarter of a million pounds – that’s a record amount, reflecting the generosity of the Muslim community even in these difficult times!
• In the LMC, we we continued to hold vaccination drop-in sessions, with hundreds of community members benefitting.
• Once again we helped host an interfaith community Iftar in partnership with Tower Hamlets Council.

You’ve also responded to the appeal for the Mosque’s dome, which needs to be replaced as its lifespan has come to an end. The appeal was made on Channel S TV and on the 27^th night of Ramadan. The Mosque raised a total of £358,220 (of that £230,323 in pledges). We now have 375 Golden Donors (out of 500), each giving £1,000 to support the replacement of the dome, who will have their donation commemorated on a special donors’ wall. We urge anyone that made a pledge to pay as soon as possible, insha’Allah.

None of this would have happened without the Will of Almighty Allah, inspiring all of you to help. It is with the support of our donors that we are able to deliver for the community, and to ensure that this House of Allah is well maintained. With your help, we have not only been able provide the beneficial services of the Mosque, but also make a positive difference to the wider community and beyond.

We pray that Allah keeps you and your family in good health and high Iman. May He, the Most Merciful, keep our hearts attached to the Mosque and connected to His cause – Ameen.
