Al-Mizan Primary School, based in the East London Mosque, is proud to announce another year of exceptional academic achievement in the Key Stage 2 SATs, with results that significantly exceed both national and local averages.

This year (2026), 100% of pupils met the expected standard in Maths, with every single pupil achieving this milestone and placing our school 26 percentage points above the national average of 74%. In Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (SPaG), 96% of pupils met the expected standard, 23 points above the national figure of 73%.

In Reading, 93% of pupils achieved the expected standard, 18 percentage points above the national average of 75%, while 89% achieved the expected standard in Writing, 17 points above the national figure of 72%. The combined Reading, Writing and Maths (RWM) score rose to 85%, representing a 22 percentage point lead over the national average and a continued improvement on last year's 78%.

Headteacher Anamul Khan praised the students and staff for their hard work and dedication:

“Alhamdulillah, these results reflect the extraordinary effort of our staff, pupils and parents this year. To achieve 100% in Maths, with every single child meeting the expected standard, is a remarkable milestone for our school. Across every subject we have moved further ahead of national averages, and to build on last year's outcomes in this way shows the strength and consistency of what we are doing at Al-Mizan. I am proud of every member of our school community and grateful to Allah for this success.”

Ustad Jamal Islam, Assistant Headteacher and Key Stage 2 Lead, shared:

“Alhamdulillah, this has been another strong year for Key Stage 2. Continuing our data analysis in the autumn term, we identified precise gaps for each pupil and built a programme of targeted intervention around them. Staff CPD focused heavily on modelling and feedback, and it has been pleasing to see Year 6 respond so positively to that consistency. To reach 100% in Maths, and to see Greater Depth rise across Reading, Maths and SPaG, confirms that the strategies we have in place continue to work. I am proud of the team and of every pupil in Year 6 for their hard work.”

Ustad Monjur, Year 6 teacher, shared:

“It has been an honour to teach this year's Year 6 pupils. Alhamdulillah, they have shown real resilience and maturity throughout the year, and their SATs results are a true reflection of the effort they put in every single day. I have watched them grow not just academically but in confidence and character, and I could not be prouder of what they have achieved. May Allah continue to guide and bless them as they move on to secondary school.”

Further highlights include strong performance across both boys and girls, with particularly high attainment in Reading and SPaG:

• 59% of pupils achieved greater depth in Reading (up from 44% last year)
• 41% reached greater depth in Maths (up from 30% last year)
• 52% reached greater depth in SPaG (up from 41% last year)

There were times when I felt challenged, but I never gave up. I kept trying right until the very last minute. “It was a SATs Victory Royale! I dedicate all my time – gave everything I had for that week. It felt like a long journey, but every bit of effort was worth it. When I saw my results, I could hardly believe them. I was over the moon! Alhamdulillah, I achieved Greater Depth in every subject.” – Ayaan, Year 6

These results affirm Al-Mizan's position as one of the top-performing schools in Tower Hamlets and across all schools nationally, preparing pupils not only for academic success but also grounded in strong Islamic education and values.
